With so many new members joining the group, I thought it would be a good time to discuss the history, rules, and past two word pairs for the Two Word Challenge Group. The whole "Two Word" concept began on Feb 1st, 2006 when David L wrote the poem, If I Gave You Just Two Words. This poem was designed to challenge every Gather member to take just two words and interpret them in writing and share them with us all. This challenge quickly took off and has provided a lot of inspiration and reading enjoyment for many Gather members.

What could you do? I mean, with just two.

Could you build a great sentence?

A paragraph? A book?

Would they touch you in some meaningful way?

Lead you to thought? Lead you astray?

Would you have them fall silent to the ground?

Like a tree in the forest with no one around.

What could you do? I mean with just two.

Three? Well, three is certainly enough.

"I love you.", has changed lives for better and worse.

Books have been written and songs, verse by verse.

Three, no doubt, will do. What about two?

May I give them to you?. Please?

I want to see what you'd do. Read what you'd do.

A poem? A thought?

A sentence? An article or two?

"Bottled Promise".

I know what it means to me. Those two.

The Two Word Challenge Rules:

A set of two words will be posted to the Two Word Challenge Group periodically and a private message announcing a new challenge will be sent to all members of the group. The challenge is to post an article, poem, story, picture . . . somehow using the announced "two words" as closely as challenged (close variations to the challenged pair are acceptable, but try to use the words as issued). It's as simple as that!

Post your entry to the Two Word Challenge Group (and to any other appropriate groups too, if you like) and tag the article with the two words you are using for your group submission (article or image). If you do not appropriately tag your entry with the two word pair you are referring to, or include the two word pair in the title of your group submission, your article or image will be declined.


All Two Word Challenges need to be kept PG to permit everyone to participate. Interpretations of the Two Words not PG are fine, as long as you flag your article appropriately. If anyone feels a group submission is inappropriate, feel free to contact me.
